Tom Alsop delivered a stunning performance, scoring an unbeaten 85 off 60 balls to lead the Gulf Giants to a crucial 6-wicket win over the Sharjah Warriorz. This victory marks our third in the tournament and gives us hope for a late surge into the Playoffs after a tough start to the season. Back-to-back wins this weekend have given us much-needed momentum.

The Warriorz chose to bat first and got off to a fantastic start. Openers Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Johnson Charles built a quick 57-run partnership within the powerplay. However, Daniel Worrall gave us the breakthrough by dismissing Charles. Soon after, Blessing Muzarabani sent back Kohler-Cadmore, and Mark Adair dismissed Avishka Fernando, ensuring the Warriorz couldn’t build a big partnership.

Despite the steady fall of wickets, Jason Roy played an aggressive knock, scoring 44 runs off 30 balls. Ashton Agar added a valuable 23 off just 13 balls toward the end, helping the Warriorz post a competitive total of 171/6. Muzarabani was the standout bowler for us, claiming 3 wickets and keeping the batters in check.

In the chase, we started strongly with James Vince hammering 24 off 14 balls. Unfortunately, his dismissal by Dilshan Madushanka triggered a collapse. Jordan Cox (8), Gerhard Erasmus (10), and Shimron Hetmyer (12) couldn’t make an impact, leaving us struggling at 107/4.

At this critical stage, Tom Alsop and Tom Curran stepped in. The pair steadied the innings, building a calm and calculated partnership. Alsop, in particular, was exceptional, hitting 7 boundaries and 2 sixes in his knock. As the match entered the death overs, Alsop turned up the heat, taking on the bowlers with ease. Curran supported him well, and the duo ensured we chased down the target with 3 balls to spare.

This win keeps us in the race for the Playoffs, but the road ahead is challenging. Up next, we face the table-toppers, Desert Vipers, who have already secured a Playoff spot. It’s going to be a tough battle, but with this form, we’re ready to fight till the end.
