West Indies cricketer Shimron Hetmyer will be one of the players to watch out for the Gulf Giants in the inaugural edition of International League T20 (ILT20).

Having made his T20 international debut against New Zealand at the Bay Oval in January 2018, the 25-year-old has scored 797 runs in 50 matches at a strike rate of 118.42 and an average of 20.97, including smashing four fifties so far.

Apart from representing his national team, Shimron Hetmyer has the experience of donning the jerseys of various T20 franchises across the globe. The flamboyant southpaw has previously played in the Caribbean Premier League, Indian Premier League and the Pakistan Super League.

Born in Berbice, Guyana, Hetmyer has also featured in 47 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 16 Tests for the West Indies. The middle-order batter has amassed 1,447 runs in 44 ODI innings at an average of 35.29 and an impressive strike rate of 106.40. He has already recorded five hundreds and four half-centuries in the 50-over format so far.

In the longest format, the hard-hitting batter has accumulated 838 runs in 30 innings with five fifties to his name.

Under the leadership of Hetmyer, West Indies won the U-19 Cricket World Cup title in 2016, beating India by five wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Bangladesh.

Hetmyer is expected to play a pivotal role for Adani Sportline-owned Gulf Giants in ILT20 2023. The first edition of IT20 is scheduled to be held from January 13 to February 12 next year.
