Flamboyant Australian batter Chris Lynn is expected to play a significant role for the Gulf Giants in the inaugural edition of International League T20 (ILT20).

The hard-hitting right-hander has been a prolific run-scorer in the T20 format, having amassed 6,656 runs in 241 matches at an impressive strike rate of 143.38 while also maintaining a decent average of 31.84. He has smashed four hundreds and 44 fifties in T20 cricket so far.

Having accomplished himself as a white-ball specialist, Lynn is known to score at a brisk pace, having already hit 563 fours and 370 sixes in his T20 career.

The Queensland-born cricketer made his T20 international debut for Australia against arch-rivals England at Bellerive Oval in January 2014. Since then, Lynn has featured in 18 T20Is for Australia, scoring 291 runs at a strike rate of 131.67. He has also played four One-Day Internationals for the Australian cricket team.

Apart from representing Australia at the international level, Lynn has a wealth of experience of playing T20 franchise cricket across the globe.

The 32-year-old explosive batter has previously donned the jerseys of now-defunct Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Lynn has represented Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League (BBL) since its inception. Interestingly, he is currently BBL’s all-time leading run-scorer, having accumulated 3,005 runs in 102 matches at an average of 34.54 and a strike rate of 148.83.

Additionally, Lynn has the experience of playing in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Pakistan Super League (PSL), Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Sri Lanka Premier League, Global T20 Canada, Euro T20 Slam and England’s T20 Blast competition.

The Gulf Giants’ batting unit will be led by Lynn, who will aim to power the side to the coveted ILT20 title. The first edition of IT20 is scheduled to be held from January 13 to February 12 next year.
