Adani Sportsline-owned Gulf Giants have acquired the services of English cricketer Rehan Ahmed for the inaugural edition of International League T20 (ILT20).

The 18-year-old became England’s youngest men’s Test debutant while making his international debut against Pakistan on December 17, 2022.

During the third day of the Test at the National Stadium in Karachi, Rehan scripted history as he became the youngest Test cricketer to bag a five-wicket haul on debut.

At the age of 18 years and 126 days, the Nottinghamshire-born cricketer surpassed Pat Cummins’ long-standing record of being the youngest Test debutant to record a five-wicket haul. The Australian fast bowler had registered figures of 6/79 against South Africa at the age of 18 years and 193 days.

Meanwhile, Rehan finished the Karachi Test with figures of 5/48 in the second innings to help the visitors secure a dominating eight-wicket victory and also record a 3-0 series whitewash.

Rehan, who has been tipped for greatness, has also played 19 T20 matches for Leicestershire. In his short T20 career, the leg-spinner has scalped 21 wickets at an average of 22.57 and an economy of 7.38.

Interestingly, Rehan was earlier part of England’s squad for the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup held in the Caribbean. He finished the tournament with 12 wickets in just four matches at an impressive economy of 4.19.

Rehan has also played five matches for Southern Brave during the 2022 season of The Hundred.

The leg-spinning all-rounder is expected to play a crucial role for Gulf Giants in the first edition of ILT20, which is scheduled to start on January 13, 2023.

In April 2022, he was bought by the Southern Brave for the 2022 season of The Hundred. Later the same month, he signed a contract extension to the end of 2026 with Leicestershire.
