The defending champions of the DP World ILT20, Gulf Giants, are looking for a comeback after facing back to back losses against MI Emirates and the Desert Vipers. Despite the disappointment, we are determined to get back to winning ways, starting with our upcoming game against the Dubai Capitals in Sharjah on Saturday.
In our last match against the Vipers, we were put into bat and faced early setbacks with James Vince and Jamie Smith getting out cheaply. However, Chris Lynn played a fantastic innings, supported by Jordan Cox and Usman Khan, helping us reach a respectable total of 160. Lynn was terrific on his return, scoring a splendid 63, and we hope he continues his good form in the upcoming matches. With the ball, Dominic Drakes performed exceptionally, and Richard Gleeson also delivered a brilliant performance. Despite our efforts, the Vipers secured the win with fine displays from Wanindu Hasaranga, Sherfane Rutherford, and Azam Khan.
The Dubai Capitals, having played 3 games, won 2, and currently standing 2nd on the points table, appear to be a solid team. In their last game against the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, they showcased outstanding batting performances from Jake Fraser-McGurk, Sam Billings, and Sikandar Raza, chasing down a target of 183 in just 16.1 overs.
Reflecting on last season, we faced the Dubai Capitals twice and emerged victorious on both occasions. Drawing inspiration from those encounters, we aim to continue our winning streak against them this year. Anticipating an exciting match, we assure fans that there is an intriguing contest on the horizon.
